Waste of time

January 31, 2013 - Blaine Hyska
All-star games are a waste of time. Organizers need to come up with another way to allow fans to see their sports heroes in action.

Most recently, the NFL Pro Bowl was held in Hawaii. NFC beat the AFC, 62-35. It was a joke. They didn’t even pretend to try.

One player, retiring Green Bay center Jeff Saturday, played on both teams.

Formerly a member of the Indianapolis Colts, an AFC team, Saturday represented Green Bay, an NFC team, at the 2013 Pro Bowl. For old time’s sake, Saturday was allowed to snap the ball to Peyton Manning, his longtime former teammate.

The NFL, the players, the networks, and every one else involved in this event should be ashamed.

They’re insulting the intelligence of football fans. If the NFL wants to give its best players a wallet full of money and a trip to Hawaii, go for it. Just don’t call it a game.
