| | Reports of good newsJuly 22, 2009 - Blaine HyskaIs the Obama economic plan working? It’s hard to say. Stock prices are up and down. National economic reports are mixed. Retail sales have risen, but so have wholesale prices. The jobless rate continues to be a major problem throughout the nation. Locally, I’ve heard reports of good news lately. The Louisiana-Pacific Sagola plant has resumed full operations. It had cut back production earlier this summer. The Systems Control in Iron Mountain recently called back its workers. Some of them had been laid off. Khoury Inc. of Kingsford has received word that an order from Home Depot was needed sooner than expected. And Grede Foundries Inc. of Kingsford is up and running after a July 4 week shutdown. This has caused other smaller local industries to call back workers. I don’t know if the Obama economic plan helped, but I’m sure everyone’s hoping that we have turned the corner on this economic downturn. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
