College football recruits

Northland Pines (Eagle River, Wis.) fullback Austin Ramesh, a tough customer for West Iron County in the West PAC, will likely join the University of Wisconsin in January 2014.

Madison.com listed Ramesh and defensive tackle Sam Raridon (West Des Moines, Iowa) as Wisconsin “grayshirts,” a delayed version of red-shirting according to one source.

St. Ignace linebacker Joe Ostman, who made his presence felt in the Division 8 football playoffs against North Dickinson, has signed with Central Michigan.

The U.P. Defensive Player of the Year claims 444 career tackles. Ostman is also a two-time state wrestling champ.
