Give up the soda

March 15, 2013 - Lisa Reed
Soda tastes good. It’s filled with sugar, has flavor and is fizzy.

But there are no health benefits to the human body from soda.

Some reports say the nation’s obesity problem has to do with our soda intake. Maybe that and fast food.

A New York City ban that was set to take place on Tuesday would have barred sugary drinks larger than 16 ounces from being served in places such restaurants, movie theaters and food carts. Beverage and restaurants sued the city and a hearing will be held on the issue in June.

Until then drink this: The cost of two sodas at a local movie theatre - a medium and large soda, $8.50. To me, that’s expensive for sugary drinks that in the end rot teeth and cause a host of other health problems.

By the way, I am human and I do drink soda, but I try to stick to a can of soda once or twice a week.

The extra calories of a soda a day are just not worth it to me.
