Hit & Run Luke Recovering Reward Offered

April 3, 2013 - Theresa Proudfit
I read on Facebook this morning about a hit and run accident involving an Iron Mountain High School graduate living in lower Michigan. Derek Luke was leaving the Ox Bar & Grill after dinner to have drinks across the street at The Oxford Tap when a Buick Rendezvous ran him down.

Derek is currently wheelchair bound, has his jaw wired shut and his pelvis contains long screws attached to an external framework. He is not expected to start walking again until August.

I remember Derek Luke as Kristi Torretti's boyfriend, we've had drinks together a few times some 8-10 years back. Kristi is a sweet girl who I met through mutual friends. Derek and Kristi live together in Lake Orion lower Michigan with their 5 year old daughter Mara.

The Luke and Torretti families are looking for the person responsible for the accident. On March 29 flyers went up all over Oxford and Lake Orion offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever was driving the light-colored (white, silver or tan) Buick Rendezvous that slammed into Luke. About 75 flyers have been put up so far and more are coming.

To read the full story that ran in the Clarkston News today visit the link on on this blog.

Prayers to the Luke and Torretti families for a full and speedy recovery for Derek and for justice for the person responsible for this terrible incident.
