What else is new?

May 2, 2013 - Blaine Hyska
The most noteworthy aspect of the coming out of Jason Collins, the NBA player who announced he was gay, was media reaction.

It was headline-making news on every news or sports station that morning. Some talking heads seemed giddy with the announcement.

And I suppose it is encouraging that homosexuals, or any group for that matter, can admit their preferences without repercussion. That’s what America is all about.

Still, the response from most folks was, “Yea, so what else is new?” We’ve been inundated with details on sexual exploits of sports stars and Hollywood types for so long that mere homosexuality is blasé.

Yet, I wonder, where does Collins shower?

Should homosexuals shower with others of their physical sex, or should they shower with individuals of the opposite physical sex? If it makes no difference, can unisex showers be far behind?
