Boehner asks "Who's going to jail?"
May 15, 2013 - Jim Anderson
It’s good to see another Republican politician calling for white-collar criminals to go to jail.
Earlier this year, U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, called upon the Justice Department to get tougher on Wall Street crime.
Now, House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, wants to know “who’s going to jail” over the IRS scandal.
Boehner is irate that the IRS targeted conservative non-profit groups for review of their tax-exempt status.
"There are laws in place to prevent this type of abuse," Boehner said today. "Someone made a conscious decision to harass and to hold up these requests for tax-exempt status. I think we need to know who they are, whether they violated the law. Clearly someone violated the law.”
And lawbreakers, Boehner says, should go to jail.
“My question isn't about who's going to resign," he said. "My question is about who's going to jail over this scandal."
Safe to say, Speaker Boehner, that in the future you’ll be rallying for jail time for corporate criminals and too-big-to-fail bankers, too?
Good to see that you might be coming around.
