August 31, 2013 - Terri Castelaz
It’s fair time.
As a kid you couldn’t wait for the fair to come, even though it meant it was back to school shortly.
Growing up I was never able to go on many carnival rides. The only ride I would enjoy going on was the Twister. I can still remember flying from side to side, bagging into the person next to you.
There was a few times when I was a little braver and went on something that either went up and down or in a circle. That’s all I have to say is that it never ended in good results.
And then there is the animal barns. No, not a big fan of those either. Cows, fine — horses, not so much. My friends would purposely go in those darn horse barns just to torture me. They thought it was hilarious see me freak out if a horse happen to get taken out of its stalls. I couldn’t get out if there fast enough.
The fun was just being with your friends, oh and of course the awesome fair food.
Now I enjoy seeing the kids have fun at the fair. Tessa is still young enough to be seen with her parents at the fair. Her older sister, well she wouldn’t hear of it. Just like I did at her age.
Tessa can’t wait to see the animals — those are her favorite. And of course the cotton candy. She wasn’t much for rides in the past. Like she says now she is bigger and can do it. I may even take her to the stock car races for the first time. Which I’m sure she would love.
Fairs are always special memories for the scrapbook.
