A Togo To Go, Thanks Coach
November 20, 2013 - Theresa Proudfit
As a Northern Michigan Graduate I am always excited when my job brings me back to my old Marquette stomping grounds. Thanks to Coach Bill Santilli and the Forest Park Trojan's I'll be headed up to the Superior Dome Saturday morning.
As a matter of fact I think I can thank Bill for about 90% of my trips to Marquette during my 16 years at The Daily News. It seems when all the other football teams have fallen out of the playoffs the Trojans keep going.
So with my husband and step son at hunting camp it will be a girls weekend in Marquette Saturday. My step daughter Hannah and two of my nieces Savahnna and Tori will be tagging along for football, shopping and lunching.
I get really excited when I think about all the places I miss in Marquette. Especially the restaurants. Where to eat is always a struggle. I would need to stay a week to hit them all. The Portside, Togos, The Rice Paddy, Casa Calabria, The Pasta Shop, Vangos and The Coachlight to name a few.
Unfortunately my young companions have no appreciation for these superb restaurants in Marquette. They never made a late night night run from the dorms for a sub sandwich, bowl of hot and sour soup, pasta or breadsticks and cheese sauce. They're all talking about Buffalo Wild Wings and Applebees. Girls Please! Being the good step mother and Auntie that I am I'm sure I'll give in and stop at one of their favorite places, but not before grabbing an order or breadsticks from Portside and a Togo's sandwich to go.
A big thanks to Coach Santilli for getting me back to NMU again this year. Good Luck Trojan's and congratulations on another great season.
