Gibson's retirement means change

September 9, 2009 - Lisa Reed
Charlie Gibson is retiring from ABC’s World News later this year and Diane Sawyer is taking over. I don’t know about anyone else, but I am bummed about this news. Early reports since the announcement last week indicate Gibson is not happy about Sawyer succeeding him. I don’t blame him. It’s not like she compares to him in any sort of way. I personally think Gibson is very good at being anchor on the ABC World News. I have watched him for years, and I prefer to watch him over Katie Couric on CBS’s World News or Brian Williams on NBC’s World News. I guess come January I will have to watch Sawyer, Couric or Williams broadcast the World News. Or I can choose not watch the World News at all. Come January, I will probably choose to watch NBC World News with Brian Williams. Maybe then there will be an increase in NBC’s ratings and a decrease in ABC's ratings.
