Emrick the best calling hockey

February 24, 2014 - Burt Angeli
When it comes to broadcasting hockey, nobody compares to Doc Emrick.

He was at his best again during the Winter Olympics, so says Bob Raissman of the New York Daily News.

“There is no reason to believe Emrick comes into an Olympics more prepared or enthused than he would for any other event he calls. Still, he has taken his game to another planet working all these hockey tilts in Sochi.

“His scene-setting and play-calling have reached higher ground. All who work with him are sounding better. You think Doc has something to do with that?

“His work Thursday in the women's gold-medal game was flawless. Send this tape to broadcast schools. After all these years, this voice of drama, excitement and passion never overwhelms, but always enhances.”
