Everyone's a pundit

April 10, 2014 - Evan Reid
After reading a story on a news website about the recent stabbing at Franklin Regional Senior High School in Pennsylvania, I browsed the comments section and was not shocked to see many comments along the lines of “Are they gonna take my knives away now, too?”

It’s disheartening that every time an incident of mass violence occurs in the United States the conversation surrounding it is politicized and devolves into a mindless left vs. right debacle centered on gun control.

Those who oppose gun control are not solely to blame. Many people of varying political allegiances are eager to take the opportunity to buttress their ideology.

The terror that the victims in these situations are confronted with should not be dismissed so easily.

Maybe we need to take more time to soberly reflect on why this continues to happen in our country before we spout off on our personal opinions.
