MSU's Payne 'useful NBA player'
June 26, 2014 - Burt Angeli
Norway’s Ed Weiland, writing for HoopsAnalyst.com, calls Michigan State’s Adreian Payne a “decent prospect.”
“He has a diverse offensive game, even if he comes up a little short as an inside scorer,” Weiland said. “The rebounding is solid and his defense has been better than the weak numbers he posted this year.
He has never been much of a passer and that can be a negative for a player like this. Despite the negative I see Payne as a useful NBA player.”
Atlanta Hawks made the 23-year-old Payne (6-10, 240) the 15th pick in the NBA Draft on Thursday.
"All I hear really is, ‘I'm too old and I don't have that much upside,’" the power forward told the Boston Globe. "It doesn't really matter. When it's time to get on the court, we'll see who's got the upside and who doesn't.
"Yeah, I'm a little older than a couple of the guys. But when it's time to get on the court, age doesn't matter. You're just out there to produce for your team and show what you can do. I don't feel old at all."
