| | But he's looking out for youFebruary 11, 2009 - Jim AndersonI heard Bill O’Reilly on the radio today. He was both amused and perturbed that a number of organizations want him to apologize for mocking 88-year-old White House reporter Helen Thomas. I’ve heard O’Reilly make fun of Thomas numerous times in the past. He doesn’t like her politics. In his mind, I guess, that makes everything fair game. On his television show Monday, after President Obama’s press conference, O’Reilly made squawking noises to imitate Thomas’ voice and said, “It’s like the wicked witch of the east! If I were Obama I would’ve poured water on her, and she’d dissolve.” Funny, funny stuff, I know. “It was satire,” O’Reilly complained to his radio audience. Doesn’t anybody get it. O’Reilly doesn’t need to apologize to Thomas. He just needs to apologize to his family, his audience, and to this newspaper (which regularly publishes his column) for being a 59-year-old juvenile.
