Be thankful

November 9, 2009 - Lisa Reed
So I just read an AP article on mothers being disappointed when they find out the child they are carrying is a boy and not the girl they had wanted. How pathetic. They should just be glad they were able to conceive and have a healthy baby, whether it is a boy or a girl. The article notes expecting mothers are sad of the news of a baby boy because they were hoping for a girl they could dress in pink dresses, etc. A psychiatric nurse in the story is quoted as saying the mothers “have the right to want the certain sex.” I personally don’t agree with that statement. Where is the excitement in finding out the sex of your child before birth? All I have to say to these mothers is “appreciate what you have been given, and if it is only boys, then so be it. At least you were able to conceive a healthy baby, even if it is a boy.”
