Hunting pup will be new addition

November 20, 2009 - Lisa Reed
So two of our bear hunting dogs didn’t make it through training season this summer. MC died of natural causes and then Midget was fatally hit by a car near the of August. So we went from having eight bear dogs to six. The winter of 2007 we had 11 dogs because we got four of Pat’s fathers dogs after he passed away in 2007. During the first weekend of training season this year, we had 15 dogs at our house. Of course, that was our eight, Mike’s four and Andy’s three. I was surprised law enforcement didn’t show up to find out why there was so much barking. I guess the dogs barking didn’t bother our neighbors. They were quiet at night after their first weekend of running. Recently Mike told me his dog, Indy, is pregnant and will have puppies the first week of December. He also informed me that we will be getting one of the female pups. I am excited to have a puppy to take care of. I am sure my cat will not be too happy about another dog on the property. I bet he will stay indoors until spring when the puppy is grown. Then the new puppy will probably not even phase him. Once the new puppies are born, we will have to go to southern Wisconsin visit them. And pick out our female puppy and come up with a name for her. Any suggestions? Our dogs names and nicknames now are Slim “Slim Jim or Slimmers,” Macy, Lumpy “Lumps,” JZ “Jayz,” Penny “Piglet” and Legs “Legos.”
