Rainbow Roller Rink Returns!

December 3, 2009 - Theresa Proudfit
Just when I thought my roller skating days were over, Dave from classified sales gave me the good news. The RAINBOW ROLLER RINK is opening back up!!!!  Come on?  Are you kidding? Noooo. Really? Are you serious? I was giddy. I've been whistling Ozzy Osborn's "Crazy Train" and the "Stray Cat's Strut" since I heard the news. I think I was even skipping a little yesterday. It is true. The ad came out in the paper today. "The New Iron Mountain Roller Rink" is what it is being called, but in the old Rainbow location.  Some of you youngsters might be confused because many think The Premier Center location was the only roller rink in town, but before that one was the Rainbow Roller Rink. It was located at 100 West Brown in Iron Mountain and was also the location for "Vicky's Aerobics" and "Night Moves".  It is opening this weekend for a 6th-8th grade dance, but they are officially open next week for skating! It is super exciting if you ask me!  I can't wait to pull out my roller skates with the blue wheels and the frosted blue pom pons and my parachute pants and leg warmers.  Oooooh, wait, maybe that is a little too much. I'll leave the 80's wardrobe in the 80's, but I AM going. Apparently you can also roller blade and there will be an ADULTS ONLY night. I'm sure my nieces will appreciate that. Otherwise they might of been scared off by the thought of Auntie "shooting the duck"  along side them on Fridays.  Off to Spencer's gifts to get some funky new laces..."I wish I could be as carefree and wild, but I-got-cat-class-and-I-got-cat-styyyyle.
