Ticketmaster not my friend

February 24, 2009 - Marguerite Lanthier
Never been a fan of Ticketmaster — since the '90s when my favorite band wouldn't tour in protest of fees tacked onto tickets. Pearl Jam wanted to keep the prices low so their fans could afford to buy them. What a crazy idea. I recently purchased two tickets for a DMB concert this summer with about $24 of miscellaneous fees added (You know — seat charge, destination charge, facility charge, just because we can charge). I think it was a little less last year. Now Ticketmaster plans to merge with Live Nation. Spokespersons for both companies claim this will make ticket purchasing more efficient and costs will go down. What they don't say out loud is charges will go down for them — not for us.
