| | Supper clubs offer good foodJune 7, 2010 - Lisa ReedLocally, there are several places to eat. We may not have Applebee’s, Olive Garden, Cracker Barrel or any of those franchise restaurants located in many large cities, but we do have really good supper clubs in the local area. Supper clubs from Pembine to Spread Eagle offer appetizers, seafood, steaks, fishfrys, burgers, homemade soups and salads, breaded and fried chicken, Italian foods, and the list goes on. As a frequent customer of many of these supper clubs, I can honestly say they all have a wide selection of good food at reasonable prices. As for the big franchise restaurants, I like to go to them too. But I consider it a treat to frequent them when I travel to larger cities, such as Green Bay, Appleton or Milwaukee. I concur when I hear the population of Iron Mountain-Kingsford is not large enough to support a large franchise restaurant. Those who live in the U.P. and its surrounding communities choose to live here for several reasons, one of them being a small town atmosphere and locally-owned businesses. I personally think the service and camaraderie at local supper clubs is better than at a franchise restaurant. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
