Seek help for domestic violence

September 3, 2010 - Lisa Reed

Domestic violence can happen to anyone. Nobody is immune from this type of violence that can take any number of forms - physical, emotional, sexual, threatening, controlling, etc. I was the victim of domestic abuse when I dated the wrong man. Although at the time I started dating him, I didn’t realize he was abusive. No one ever does right away. He liked to drink alcohol and when he drank alcohol, he got argumentive, controlling and physical. He called the cops on more than one occasion and tried to get me arrested. In the end, he was the one who was arrested and charged. I ended up having a personal protection order put on him and have not heard from him since. Anyone who is in an abusive relationship should seek help before it is too late.
