Swan song; have your ashes pressed as vinyl

October 4, 2010 - Terri Castelaz
This tidbit ranks up in the “can’t believe what I’m hearing” categories. Recently while in line at the grocery store I over heard some teenagers talking that they heard that you could have your ashes made into a record.

My curiosity got the best of me, so that night I went home and googled “pressing ashes into a record.” Well sure enough it is true. There are companies out there that will press your cremated ashes into a vinyl record for a hefty fee.

I find this beyond disturbing, but I’m sure there are many music lovers out there that would love to do this. To make it even more ridiculous, the company will make the record playable. They can add any songs the persons would like on to it, add a personalized message from the deceased person or just silence — the crackling sound of you and the vinyl melded. Can you imaging going to someone’s funeral with the record playing their “swan song.” No thanks. This is too creepy for me.
