Benefit Nov. 7 for Scott Geldmeyer and family
October 26, 2010 - Terri Castelaz
Friends and family have planned a benefit party for Scott Geldmeyer and his family of Niagara on Nov. 7, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the C&R Bar in Aurora, Wis.
In October of 2007, Scott was diagnosed with idiopathic restrictive cardiomyopathy and was listed for a heart transplant in October 2009. On Sept. 24 of this year, he received his heart.
A fund-raising dinner is being served from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Donations of $7 for adults and $5 for children (under 5 are free) are being asked. Each dinner donation will also include live music throughout the day by several local bands, including Night Train and Crossroads. There will also be a bake sale, drawings and prizes throughout the event.
The event is a great opportunity for the community to help this family at this difficult time. Monies raised will be used for medical and travel expenses, as well as expenses incurred in which to prepare for Scott’s expected homecoming. A spokesperson for the family said he has a long road before that will happen as he will need to stay in and/or near the hospital for some time, away from his family, during his initial recovery. She also added a great deal of travel, phone and other additional expenses will incur during these next few years as he begins his road back to good health. Scott and Carrie are missed much by their four young children, family and friends.
Those unable to attend the benefit can send their monetary donation to: Scott Geldmeyer Benefit Fund, c/o Forward Financial Credit Union, P.O. Box 48, Niagara, WI 54151.
