Countdown to Black Friday
November 18, 2010 - Jim Anderson
I’m not sure when Black Friday shopping got to be such a production, but I do know I missed the fireworks.
(Note to wife: That’s just a figure of speech. There’s no fireworks this year.)
According to the National Retail Federation, nearly 60 million Americans are primed to shop on Nov. 26.
And that’s just at Kmart.
If the bargains are good enough, as many as 138 million of us could hit the stores over the weekend, the federation adds.
Sears, are you listening?
I’m not adverse to shopping, but I do try to avoid crowds and shopping.
I like tons of people at a football game, not around a pile of $198 high-definition TVs at Wal-Mart.
(I just checked, honey, and I don’t work until the evening shift on the 26th ...)
Right, like I’m going to rise before dawn for elbow-to-elbow shopping.
Or maybe I’m just bluffing ...
More room for me at Dunham’s.
(While you dissect Wal-Mart, my sweetheart.)
