Scooby Sue Moves to the Farm

April 2, 2009 - Theresa Proudfit
My life has been blessed with good friends. Some of my friends have been with me since kindergarten and others just came into my life.  I have also lost great friends. Some because of disputes, others moved away, one because of heartbreak and one took his own life.  Even though these people are no longer in my life they will always be a part of me.  They helped develop the person I am today. It is because of them that I learned to forgive, learned to let go and began to cherish my existing friends. That brings me to the point of my blog. My friend Sue is moving next week. She is packing up and heading back to her home town in lower Michigan. "Is it a good move"? Yes. "Is it the right time"? Yes. "So what's the problem"? Well the problem is, I'm gonna miss her like crazy.  Scooby Sue, as I like to call her, is one of a kind. She is a  friend that challenges me. She gives it to me straight and calls me on my B.S.  She makes me laugh and cry at the same time. She drives me crazy while all along making  me a better person, a more accountable person and a "greener" person.  Even though the woman can't keep a secret to save her life (I'm sure its just the reporter in her) she has saved me from myself too many time to count.  But now I have to say goodbye.  Goodbye to our crazy adventures like wandering around old mine shafts , picking raspberry's, searching for lost animals (in the middle of the night in below zero temperatures), catching loose birds and taking road trips.  And good bye to our late night dinners where we have too much wine and rant and rave about politics, room mates and old boyfriends while the owners are shutting off lights around us.   But to her, I will not say goodbye. Her I'm gonna keep.  If it means traveling across the bridge a couple times a year or talking on the phone too long I will put in the effort. I will keep the contact. I will cherish this friendship.  So Good Luck Scooby.  I will Miss you, but I promise not to lose you!
