Enjoy the seasons

February 2, 2011 - Blaine Hyska
You gotta’ love this winter.

The Upper Peninsula had blizzard warnings earlier this winter season. We survived.

You get out your snow blowers and shovels, and deal with it. It’s not the most pleasant chore, but it’s part of life in the U.P. You have to admit, wild stormy weather is exciting.

As always, there were traffic accidents but I don’t believe I ever heard it called a “killer storm” as they’re doing with the current snowstorm sweeping through Chicago, Milwaukee and downstate Michigan.

Schools, businesses, roadways, courthouses are closed. They’re getting up to two feet of snow.

They’re acting like it’s Armageddon.

To someone in the Upper Peninsula, that’s good sledding.

Actually, New York City and the East Coast have been hit hard this year. I feel sorry for them, sort of... It is a bit entertaining to watch city folk struggle with snow, just as we do every year.

It’s a lot better than any reality show.

We should enjoy the seasons.

Get the lawn mowers ready. It won’t be long before we’re knee deep in dandelions and mosquitoes.
