| | Filing taxes is stressfulApril 8, 2009 - Lisa ReedApril 15 is the final day to file last year’s taxes. Now I usually have my taxes filed early in the year, but I married a self-employed business man, so this is the week our taxes will get done. My husband has spent countless hours filling out the forms and finding the most deductions for his business. Needless to say I think he is slightly frustrated and irritated with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Everyone has to pay taxes whether they like it or not. And whether we pay them throughout the year or at tax time, taxes must be paid. Or if you are lucky enough, the state and federal government will pay you back. Either way, filing taxes is no fun, stressful and meaningless. For example the government has new rules every year, and I have to say the instructions for each new tax credit are confusing. Since we don’t have children, we don’t have that many deductions, so we are not getting paid by the federal and state government. I guess that’s incentive to have children. On the other hand, both my brothers purchased a house in early 2009 and can take the deduction on their 2008 taxes. Since my younger brother filed his taxes early, all he has to do is have his tax preparer file an amended form and he will see another $4,000 this year. Lucky for them. On top of everything, I am not even going to get into whether one should file the paper form or electronically. I for one have filed electronically for the past 10 years. This year will be the first year I file the paper form, and I am not happy about it. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | in: News, Blogs & Events Web |
