| | Tax deadline loomsApril 4, 2011 - Lisa ReedApril 15 is the day taxes are due every year. Because that day is Emancipation Day, a holiday observed in the District of Columbia, the IRS has extended the tax filing deadline to Monday, April 18. My husband owns his own business and usually pays in on an annual basis, so he is one of those people that waits in line to mail taxes on the last day. He figures, “Why should the IRS get their money any sooner?” Can you tell he hates filing, yet paying taxes? Last year we had to file an extension and ended up paying a penalty because we filed after the extended deadline. But hey we got a nice refund and didn’t have to pay in! This year I told Pat that he has to have our taxes done by Thursday, April 14. No exceptions. He says he will have them done. Only time will tell, and I am hoping for the best outcome. | in: News, Blogs & Events Web |
