Countdown for Krush Cash
April 25, 2011 - Theresa Proudfit
It's crunch time. The Kingsford Krush Roller Derby is approaching the final month of voting for the Reader's Digest "We Hear You America" contest.
The Kingsford Krush is a group of hard working, fun loving, mothers, daughters, teachers, students, professional women, and friends who are family oriented and have a passion for roller derby. The Krush is currently renting space at a local roller rink for practice, but is looking for a home of their own. Having their own place would allow the organization to practice more often and hold local bouts for the community to participate. Being a new league much fundraising still needs to be done. Winning this contest would give a much needed boost an organization that strives to empower women and teach children.
The league started the Reader's Digest contest a little late in the game but has pushed through with a strong derby stride. Beginning in 800th place we have past hundreds of cities in American and are currently in 30th place. Not to shabby.
May 30th is the final voting date for the contest and we need your help. We currently have just over 40,000 votes but we need to multiply that number by about 100. I know that sounds like a big number but it's really not. Each person can vote ten times a day and we still have about 35 days to vote so if we can get a little over a thousand people to vote everyday. We can do it!. Kingsford's population is approximately 5500, Iron Mountain's is nearly 8,000. So we need less than 1/10th of the area to vote. Obviously that is a big task, but it's not an impossible one.
Get word out and vote up to 10 times daily! We already have the derby girls and their families voting everyday, but If we could get other derby leagues and roller derby fans to vote we could actually have a chance. Please Vote for Us!
