Lockout ends, Bear down

July 25, 2011 - Terri Castelaz
Great news. NFL players voted to accept a final deal Monday, July 25, which finally puts an end to the four and a half month lockout, the longest in league history. Couldn't have happened on a better day, Walter Payton's birthday. Way to honor his memory. Now the Chicago Bears can get ready to start making deals. The Bears have 47 players under contract. They need 90. That means in addition to signing some of their own free agents as well as players from other teams, they will need undrafted college players — a lot of them. Unrestricted free agent, Olin Kreutz is in my opinion one of the most important. He is the leader on that line. Then move on to getting linebackers, etc. They have their work cut out for them. We shall see what happens in the upcoming weeks before I start making any season predictions. Also good news to all Bear fans quarterback Jay Cutler has dumped his fiancee, ex-MTV star Kristin Cavallari. Now he can focus on getting the Bears to the Super Bowl.
