Big expectations for U-M

August 16, 2011 - Burt Angeli
None other than former Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez expects big things from the Wolverines. Rodriguez, now a college football analyst with CBS Sports Network, figures Michigan for “nine or 10 wins.”

“They’ve got 19 returning stars, the player of the year in the league returning in Denard Robinson, eight home games, the first five at home,” Rodriguez said. “So I think they’re going to win nine or 10 games, at least that’s what I expected if we were going to be there.”

Rodriguez, who looked befuddled in his three years coaching Michigan to a 15-22 record, didn’t do new coach Brady Hoke any favors by putting a victory total on his assessment.

Hoke’s going to be under enough pressure in his first season without those comments from the former coach.
