Never ending vacation 'project'

August 19, 2011 - Terri Castelaz
I opened a can of worms. Last week while on vacation, I had a brain storm to clean out one of my hall closets containing approximately eight years worth of unorganized pictures, the kids school papers and newspaper clippings for their scrapbooks. I knew it was going to be a big job, but didn’t realize how big. I started the “project” on Monday with the help of my 11-year-old daughter, Payton. She began sorting her school papers, which included a lot of tossing since she like to save every paper she brought home. I thought I would tackle the photos first. I began by sorting each packet of pictures by each child and then approximately their age. Needless to say after this many years, it was a challenge. At 10 p.m. that night I was still attempting to put photos in albums just so we could actually go to bed that night since I had all the photos spread out on the bed. After four days of placing photos in albums and scrapbooking I had had enough. I was not going to spend my last couple of days of vacation cooped up in my bedroom. I placed the rest in Rubbermaid container and have decided to complete the “project” this winter. I have also vowed to never, ever let this get like this again. I think I remember saying that eight years ago when I did it the last time.
