The best pasty

November 7, 2011 - Lisa Reed
Almost everybody that has eaten a pasty has loved it, especially if it was made with my grandma’s recipe. My mom, grandma and I got together to make pasties on Sunday. I mixed up the first batch of dough for the crust, but then my mom took over. I think she just wanted to make the dough... because my dough turned out just fine! A pasty tastes best if it is made with beef roast, potatoes, onions, salt and pepper and a pad of butter in each crust. The crust is a secret family recipe! My grandma and I filled the crusts with those ingredients and used her secret to make sure the crust browned nicely. All in all, we made 20 pasties. My mom and I usually make more, but we must of had less meat than normal. Either way, the pasty I ate was delicious. My husband, who didn’t grow up eating delicious pasties, enjoys his with beef gravy. My mother finds this odd. But, however one enjoys eating a pasty, the ones we make are sure to please and fill an empty stomach.
