Kicking the Christmas Blues

December 23, 2011 - Theresa Proudfit
Sometimes I feel overwhelmed during the holiday season. Working three jobs trying to make ends meet, finding great gifts for all my loved ones and overcoming the feeling of loss for those who are no longer with us at Christmas time can some days be too much to handle.

The bad days (you know the ones I mean, you wake up late, your driving behind some idiot who doesn't know whether they are coming or going, your work day is full, the supermarket lines are long and the house is a mess) seem to over power the good ones and I get grumpy.

"Why me? Why today? Why can't everything go my way for a change? Then something happens to jar me from my self pity and I realize how blessed I really am.

I have a fiance that loves me dearly (even when I'm grumpy), a fantastic family, 3 jobs that pay the bills (when others are searching for work), amazing friends whom I can cry or rejoice with and although I have some extra weight around the middle, I'm pretty darn healthy.

That is much to be thankful for. Occasionally I forget that. Having been without some of these things in the past I know that god answers prayers and I thank him for all the good in my life.

So if your struggling to find peace this Christmas, stop, take a deep breath and look at the good in your life. There is often much more than you realize.

Merry Christmas Everyone.
