Bears fire GM
January 3, 2012 - Ron Deuter
Looks like there is a GM opening in Chicago.
Bears fired Jerry Angelo after the team finished 8-8 and out of the playoffs for the fourth time in five years.
More moves are sure to follow, but this is where it had to start. For the past few seasons, it seemed like the Bears were an all or nothing team. The minute the team suffered a key injury, the wins would stop. The team lacks depth.
As the champion Packers showed last season, it’s entirely possible to suffer multiple injuries to starters and still win games.
It’s all about how you draft, and that’s where Angelo failed the Bears more times than not.
The move to fire Angelo seems like an encouraging sign that perhaps chairman George McCaskey has decided to take an aggressive approach to rebuilding this team.
