Tunnell impressive Packer

Great read in the New York Times on safety Emlen Tunnell joining Vince Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers in 1959.

“On arrival in his new home, Tunnell was told he had just doubled the black population in Green Bay,” Bill Pennington wrote. “The city’s other African-American, Tunnell heard, was the shoeshine man at the Hotel Northland.”

So Tunnell also lived at the Northland.

Tunnell was also a war hero and overcame a broken neck during his college career. ...
