Not going to take this anymore

February 16, 2012 - Nikki Younk
Remember that movie "Network," in which the main character yells "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!"? Do you ever have the urge to yell that same thing when something irks you? I sure do.

There are certain topics that just make me fly off the handle.

Some are trivial. I despise contemporary country music. I despise stupid driving. I despise egg salad sandwiches.

Some aren't trivial at all. One such topic is women's reproductive rights, which I heartily support.

As you can imagine, with all the recent uproar over the Obama administration v. the Catholic Church with birth control, I'm seeing red every time I open a newspaper or turn on the news. I (sometimes reluctantly) accept that people have different opinions and different beliefs than I do. What I absolutely can't accept is people spreading inaccurate information.

The birth control pill is different from the morning after pill. Both are different from the abortion pill. My fellow blogger Jim Anderson recently wrote about the differences in detail here. Read and be informed.

I would like to add that birth control pills (not the morning after pill, not the abortion pill) have medical uses besides preventing pregnancy. They are quite effective at treating heavy periods, polycystic ovary syndrome, and endometriosis.

Those are the facts. Please use them wisely.
