Price to pay for U-M renovations
March 7, 2012 - Burt Angeli
Michigan’s men’s basketball fans will have to pay a seat license next season to attend games in the newly named Crisler Center, Lansing sportscaster and State Journal columnist Tim Staudt noted.
“Those $23 million in renovations don’t come without a cost to the patrons,” Staudt wrote. “Of course, there is griping over the fees — which vary from $50 per seat to $7,500.
“Some will drop out, many will pay reluctantly. That’s the case at other major schools when seat licensing becomes a method for obtaining revenue.
“It hasn’t been that long since U-M home games featured thousands of empty seats, so the Wolverines will have to keep winning and I would advise a clear upgrade in home nonconference games.”
