Bet on Tommy
March 13, 2012 - Burt Angeli
Michigan State, Michigan and Wisconsin are big favorites for their opening NCAA Tournament men’s basketball games.
For the Spartans (27-7), my boys in Las Vegas have made them a 17.5-point favorite over LIU (25-8) in Friday’s West Regional game at Columbus, Ohio.
In a Midwest Regional game Friday night, Michigan (24-9) is a six-point favorite over Ohio (27-7).
Wisconsin (24-9) travels to Albuquerque — Edmund Henry’s most difficult word to spell — for a Thursday afternoon East Regional game with Montana (25-6). Oddsmakers like the Badgers by 8.5 points.
I’m taking MSU to cover the spread but go with the underdogs in the other two games. Although I’m picking Michigan and Wisconsin to win but not by the point spreads.
The national champion? Of course, Tommy Izzo will be cutting down the nets.
