Weekend of basketball, without Tessa

March 28, 2012 - Terri Castelaz
Last weekend my daughter, Payton and her sixth grade basketball team participated in the Ishpeming basketball tournament. This also gave us the opportunity to stay overnight in Marquette just the two of us. When asked to go, Payton showed more excited that she would be away from her sister, Tessa, who is 3, for the whole weekend than the basketball I think. Yes, I have to admit I felt a little excitement that I would have the opportunity to spend time with just her, and also not have to deal with the stress of chasing a very active three-year-old. Tessa was also excited that she got to grandma and grandpa’s house in Felch. Grandma was saying for weeks that she needed a Tessa fix, so I was happy to help. Not sure how long it will be before she says that again. Tessa is a challenge, yes, but I have to admit I missed her. Everyone that knows her, can attest that she does add excitement to anything we do. You never know what will come out of her mouth. Put it this way no one believe she’s only three, not only because of her size, it is her vocabulary. We had a great weekend, kids and parents. The tournament was a good experience for the girls, which was their first non-local tournament. Congratulations to the Norway sixth grade boys for winning the championship for their grade.
