Tommy recruiting in Minnesota

April 16, 2012 - Burt Angeli
Iron Mountain’s Tommy Izzo and college basketball’s finest coaches are expected to be in Eagan, Minn., this weekend for the Nike EYBL tournament.

Michigan State, plus every other school, would like to land Jabari Parker. The 6-foot-8 Parker, a junior at Chicago Simeon High School, ranks as the No. 1 player in the country.

Tim Staudt, writing in the Lansing State Journal, noted Parker “led his state championship team to a 33-1 record. He averaged nearly 21 points per game. MSU is in the thick of his recruitment. I'm wondering if he'd be the most highly profiled athlete in any sport to become a Spartan since Earvin Johnson in 1977 if he signs on with Izzo come November.”
