NMU seeks 'Hall' candidates

May 2, 2012 - Burt Angeli
Northern Michigan University Sports Hall of Fame Committee is encouraging media members to nominate qualified applicants for induction.

Seems to me the present nominee list includes some pretty fair former Wildcats. See if these names from the area ring a bell:

— Paul D’Arras (1967)

— Rae Drake (1982)

— Don Edens (1968, 1976)

— Don M. Hill (1952)

— Chris Hofer (1986)

— Julie (Heldt) Wonders (1993)

— Matt Wonders (1995)

Not sure I could add a nomination from this area that would match the above. They all seem deserving to me.

Those with a candidate for the NMU Sports Hall of Fame should submit a candidate by May 25 for the 2013 selection process.

The nominee must be a former student, faculty or staff member of NMU; someone who made a singular contribution to NMU’s athletic program or someone who has distinguished himself/herself in the field of athletics.

The nominee, if an athlete, must have departed Northern Michigan University five years prior to their nomination. Former coaches, faculty or staff members, and other nominees are not bound by a time limit.

A nominee must have demonstrated good citizenship.
