Double Trouble

May 16, 2012 - Theresa Proudfit
This Is It! The last roller derby bout of the season and we are ready to roll!

The Kingsford Krush and the Kingsford Track Bratz are coming together this weekend to bring you a double header to close out both our seasons and I for one am super stoked. As I mentioned before I have three junior derby girls (Bratz) in my family and having them open the show for us brings a few tears to my eyes. Savahnna "Blueberry Snap" Peterson, Victoria "Little Bomb Slammer" Peterson and Hannah "The Banana Pealer" Proudfit have made me proud all season and I can't wait to see their final performance on Saturday night.

In the Track Bratz bout The Funky Monkeys take on the The Sour Punch Wheelers at 6 p.m. My little Monkeys have some tough competition with the Wheelers Harlee "Sunset Slammer" Davis, Paige "Monster Fruitcake" Currie and Lauren "Lil Bottoms" Teske on the roster.

After the Bratz finish up, somewhere around 7 p.m., the Krush women will be testing their skills on The Wisconsin River Valley Roller Girls. The Roller Girls have a few more years under their belt and rumor has it they are tough. The Krush women however have crazy skills too. Chesty Glitterheat can find a hole in the toughest of walls and The Iron Lotus is a wall all by herself. We welcome the competition and look forward to our final bout on Saturday.

Hey did I mention we are doing this one for the troops? Saturday happens to be Armed Forces Day so we are rolling to rally support for our men and women in the military. If you bring one of the items on the following list you can get pre-sale ticket prices at the door. Suggested Items: Travel size tissues, shampoo and conditioner, gum, dental floss toothpaste, band aids, cookies, thank you cards, baby wipes and granola bars. We will box up the items and mail them with derby love.

So here are the details. Saturday May 19th doors open at 5 p.m. Junior girls bout starts at 6 p.m. and Krush play right around 7 p.m. The event will be held at the former Goodwill building next to Forward Financial at W8159 US 2 in Iron Mountain. Tickets $10 Pre-sale and $12 at the door! Seating is limited so bring a chair! Pre-sale tickets can be obtained from any Krush girl OR at the following locations: Erickson Jewelers, The Junction, and The White House. Donation Items for troops overseas will be accepted at the door and will receive pre-sale ticket price.

When the event is finished there will be an adult after party at The Junction located at 115 Harding Ave in Kingsford. Manager and avid derby fan Mike Swan and his lovely cousin Emily Droese will be there to serve you.

Don't miss this event! It's the final bout of the season and is sure to be a spectacular show!
