Annual Caregiver Seminar planned May 21 in Florence
FLORENCE, Wis. — The Florence County Aging Unit has joined forces with the Alzheimers Association of Greater Wisconsin to offer the 3rd Annual Caregivers Seminar in Florence.
The seminar will be held on Wednesday, May 21 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Natural Resource Center in Florence.
This year’s seminar will address two issues. The first issue discussed will be “Addressing Symptomatic Behaviors in Dementia.” Behavior problems are very common in people with dementia and can cause significant stress for the person with dementia as well as for their family and caregivers.
This program will focus on ways that persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia communicate through behavior.
Participants will practice strategies to identify why behaviors occur, prevent behaviors from occurring, and redirect the person when behaviors do occur.
The second topic to be discussed in the seminar is caregiver wellness.
