MONROE, Mich. (AP) — Whiteout conditions are reported on some Michigan roadways, with gusting winds and blowing snow making travel treacherous.
Roads are slippery on Monday, with icy conditions on freeways and surface streets alike. WWJ-AM reports visibility dropped to zero along Interstate 75 in Monroe County in southeastern Michigan, prompting some to stop until conditions improved.
Fresh snow fell Sunday night and Monday morning, and temperatures ranged from 9 degrees below zero in Houghton to the teens in the Lower Peninsula. Temperatures are expected to drop, with lows early Tuesday expected to fall to minus 7 to minus 13 in parts of southeastern Michigan.
Over the weekend, weather contributed to crashes that killed three people.
In Michigan's Upper Peninsula, authorities say M-28 between Harvey and Munising was closed due blowing and drifting snow.
