HOUGHTON, Mich. (AP) — A judge could set a trial date in the case of a newlywed charged with killing his wife before she started winter classes at Michigan Technological University.
Nima Nassiri, a native of the Los Angeles area, is back in Houghton County Circuit Court on Wednesday. He's charged with killing Sanaz (SAH'-na) Nezami in December. Her heart, lungs and other life-saving organs were transplanted to seven people, a rare donation.
The 27-year-old Nezami was a native of Iran who moved to Michigan with her husband to pursue an advanced degree in engineering.
During the pre-trial hearing, prosecutors could disclose whether they'll offer a plea deal to Nassiri.
