Margaret Bourgeois
NORWAY — Margaret A. Bourgeois, 96, of Norway died Monday, May 5, 2008, at Hyland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain.
She was born on Aug. 5, 1911, in Minot, N.D., the daughter of the late Fred and Margaret (Bley) Hintz.
Margaret graduated from High Park High School in Chicago in 1931. She worked as a bank teller at the First National Bank of Hermansville from 1942-1946, then at the Escanaba State Bank from 1953-1959.
Margaret married Joseph Bourgeois on Sept. 5, 1959, in Escanaba. He preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1988.
She was a member First Baptist Church in Norway, very active in the Women’s Missionary Guild as the secretary and treasurer and she loved singing in the choir as well as solos and duets.
Margaret loved flowers, gardening, traveling, corresponding and writing letters to family and friends and the Green Bay Packers.
She is survived by her brother, Paul (Carol) Hintz of Norway and her nephews and nieces, Charles (Ingrid) Thiele, Gene (Elizabeth) Thiele, Philip Thiele, Janet Thiele, Lawrence Thiele, Lowell Thiele, Cynthia (Peter) Balzola, Paul (Carol) Hintz Jr. and Carolyn (Jean-Louis) Martinez.
Margaret was preceded in death by her brothers, Emanuel Thiele and Fred Hintz.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Interment will be the Norway Township Cemetery.
