They don’t know how

POSTED: May 8, 2008

EDITOR:When are we going to learn, that, government price controls don’t work, never have, never will. The new age liberals often use foreign countries that have government things like hospitalization, they always say “Oh, we should have one too.”

If other countries control pricing, then “libs” say “Oh, we should have it too.”

Modern day “libs” are brain dead, never do they first find out whether these things work, they just charge ahead and say, “Oh, we need that.”

Consequences of some of these things we are urged to do, never will or can work out in a socialized system of big central governments.

Any type of big governments, you can include our federal, state and local, usually screw up everything they try and do. Why is this?

It’s because they don’t know how. Where as, private businesses have the trained personal to do the job needed and usually do it very well.

Example, we have the greatest health care in the world. And it works very well, so if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

But of course, modern “libs” are affected with P.C. (political correctness) which is B.D. (brain dead) and there is no hospital, government-run or private can fix that.

It gives me the warm fuzzies as well when back-water hicks get on their computers and maim the English language to the point that I feel a need to write letter correcting them.By the way, that key on the left side of your keyboard is for the purpose of capitalizing letters, not making a point.

IT GIVES ME THE WARM FUZZIES,TOO WHEN SOMEONE USES A LIB ORGANIZATION TO BACK UP A LIB ARGUMENT..JOE HAS ALWAYS IRRITATED ME, BUT THIS TIME HE'S TOTALLY RIGHT. IF YOU THINK THINGS ARE EXPENSIVE NOW, WAIT 'TIL THE GOV CONTROLS IT AND IT'S "FREE"

It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when somebody who writes/posts actually has facts to support an argument. Just when I've resigned myself to the fact that the country is run and populated by crazies and blind patriots.....I'm pleasantly surprised. Thanks to lacountc!

And besides, when does the world "vote" on who has the best healtcare? I don't recall the results announcing the US as the unconstested winner.

Hey Doc, I've read enough of Joe's letters to know he's never right. Per capita dollars spent on health care in 2000, UK $1461, Sweden $1746, Japan $1822, France $2077, Canada $2222, Switzerland $2794 (generally agreed to be about the best health care you can get), USA $4178! Infant mortality rate is a well accepted measure of the quality of health care in a country, the USA is dead last among all the countries listed above. The US is the only country in the developed world aside from South Africa that doesn't provide health care for all of its citizens, meaning 41.2 million people don't have insurance. Just because you believe something doesn't make it true, you have to provide facts. Mine come from a study by the University of Maine called "The US Healthcase System: Best in the World, or Just the Most Expensive." Look it, check back when you've got a real argument and not just invective.

lacontc - You're wrong and Joe's right! When the world votes on the best healthcare in the world the USA wins. Evidence when someone in the world needs medical treatment where do they go? England, France, Canada, Cuba - even Michael Moore doesn't use Havana general for his medical care! Nope they line up in the good old USA. Why? Because our medical system with all its flaws is exponentially better than the treatment in socialized medical systems.

I tend to agree with Joe about 98% on the medical issue, and 100% on the governmental issue. I have lived in other countries with socialized medicine, I'll take ours anyday. It may not be perfect, but at least you will not pass on, waiting for a surgical procedure. Also, with the vast taxes that are taken from the people by other countries to supply every agenda and whim one wants, it is surprising the people have any money left. Know from where you speak, not of what you would like to believe is the truth.

Hey Joe, where did you read that we have the "greatest healthcare in the world?" Comparing what is spent on a procedure-by-procedure basis our country spends 4-5 times more than countries that have socialized medicine for comparable care. How can this be considered "the greatest?" Swing and a miss Joe, try turning your spelling and grammar check on.
