U.P. regional track meets Thursday

IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County will be the site of three U.P. high school regional track meets Thursday.

Qualifying meets for the U.P. Track & Field Finals are slated for Iron Mountain, Norway and North Dickinson high schools.

Mountaineer Stadium will host Division 1 schools Iron Mountain, Kingsford, West Iron County, Calumet, Houghton and Negaunee.

Meet starts at 1:30 p.m. with field events, followed by races at 2:30 p.m.

Division 2 schools will invade Ronberg Field starting at 3:30 p.m. Races will open around 4:15 p.m.

Norway is the Division 2 regional host to Hancock, Ironwood, Ishpeming (Republic-Michigamme ), Westwood and L’Anse.

Division 3 regional at North Dickinson includes the Nordics, Forest Park, Carney-Nadeau, Chassell, Dollar Bay and Lake Linden-Hubbell. Field events take place at 3 p.m., with the races at 3:30 p.m.

North Central is in the Division 3 regional at Rapid River with the Rockets,

Bark River-Harris, Big Bay de Noc, Superior Central and Mid Peninsula.

Regional qualifiers advance to the U.P. Track & Field Finals on Saturday, May 31, at Kingsford’s Flivver Field.
