Lemanski, Church earn major Florence awards

FLORENCE, Wis. — Juniors Aileen Lemanski and Jake Church earned Florence High School’s highest awards Wednesday.
Lemanski accepted the Virginia Ehrenreich Girl Athlete of the Year while Church received the David Wenzel Memorial Athlete of the Year at the 39th annual Florence High School Athletic Awards Ceremony.
Lemanski, a two-time state long jump champion, also participated in girls basketball and volleyball.
Church stood out in football, wrestling and baseball for the Bobcats.

U.S. Army Reserve Scholar Athlete — Katie Richard, Mike Wojdyla.
U.S. Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete — Rachel Koehn.
K. Casey Constantini Memorial — Andrew Vassar.
Volleyball — Katie Richard, team spirit; Becky Schiltz, most improved.
Football — Jake Church, outstanding; Chase Opolka, coach’s award.
Girls basketball — Sarah Mills, most improved.
Boys basketball — Andrew Vassar, outstanding; Alex Taff, most improved.
Wrestling — Jake Church, outstanding; Jule Glime, most improved.
Cross country — Tom Friberg and Michaela Rice, most improved.
Boys track — Thad Harrison, outstanding; Kyle McNelis, coach’s choice.
Girls track — Aileen Lemanski, outstanding; Katie Brownson, most improved; Rachel Koehn, coach’s choice.
Golf — Ben Drexler, outstanding; Mari Dallapiazza, most improved.
Softball — Mel Vaccaro, most improved.
Baseball — Nate Steber and Jake Church, outstanding.
