AURORA, Colo. - Ernest Charles Novey, 51, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at the Denver Hospice in Aurora, Colo.
Ernie (E3) Novey was born at the Crystal Falls Hospital on Aug. 1, 1956, and always considered himself a "yooper," although he traveled the world as a military "brat."
He graduated from Leilahua High School on Oahu, Hawaii in 1974, and returned many times to the islands over the years with his wife and children. Ernie worked for United Airlines for 24 years.
He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in August 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Rita; his sons, Brett and Zachary of Denver; a granddaughter, Talena of Colorado Springs; his parents, Ernest and Barbara Novey of Denver; his brother, Ben of Loveland and his uncle, Paul Novey of Fort Collins, Colo.; and his grandmother, Nellie Novey of Crystal Falls.
Ernest Charles is preceded in death by his son, Adam and his grandparents, Ernest Novey of Alpha and Charles and Ardella Lunkley of Cedar Falls, Iowa.
He will be missed because of many things, but mostly for the love, the rowdy good humor and infectious laughter he brought into all our lives in the 52 years he graced this planet. We have lost a proud Yooper.
It is requested that in lieu of flowers, please send a donation in his honor to the Denver Hospice, 501 S. Cherry Drive 700 Denver, Colo., 80274 or to a charity of your choice.
